Meru/Weneru shields are justly prized for their abstraction and appealing use of color. Smaller dance shields of this type are rare. This example came from an old European Collection via Pierre Dartevelle, Brussels and was attributed by him to be Kikuyu from Kenya but recent research supports a more likely Meru identification.
